Facilities Mechanical Engineer (Permanent)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct maintenance and servicing of mechanical systems, including Air Handling Units (AHUs), Fan Coil Units (FCUs), pump seals, bearings, and alignment.
  • Participate in an on-call rota and work within a seasonal shift pattern, which may include weekends and evenings.
  • Prioritize tasks to meet business requirements, ensuring all maintenance work is completed to a high standard.
  • Diagnose and repair faults in mechanical systems.
  • Supervise contractors on-site, ensuring tasks are completed effectively and safely.
  • Provide technical support for building plant and equipment.
  • Adhere strictly to health, safety, and environmental procedures.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all aspects of work.
  • Any tasks or responsibilities as requested by management within the scope of the position.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Engineering/Technical Qualification: Essential (e.g., Apprenticeship or NVQ level 3 in mechanical/plumbing/HVAC disciplines).
  • Experience in Building Services: Essential.
  • Mechanical Servicing/Maintenance Competency: Essential, particularly in AHU, FCU, pump seals, bearings, and alignment.
  • Proficiency in Other Building Services Disciplines: Essential, including Building Management Systems (BMS) and Electrical.
  • Driving Licence: Essential, must be full and clean.
  • Report Writing: Ability to complete reports and job sheets manually or electronically.
