SAP Buyer/Planner Margate £32k

Are you an experienced Buyer or Planner within a manufacturing environment? Do you have strong SAP MM knowledge and experience managing supplier relationships, inventory, and production planning? Are you confident coordinating international shipments, negotiating with suppliers and ensuring materials arrive on time to support production?

We're currently recruiting on behalf of a global manufacturer who would like to recruit an experienced Buyer / Planner to join their procurement team. This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in ensuring the efficient supply of components and materials required to support a busy manufacturing operation. Working closely with suppliers across the UK and overseas, you will take ownership of a portfolio of products and vendors, managing everything from purchasing and planning through to expediting, supplier performance, logistics and inventory management.

Location: Margate

Hours: Monday-Friday, between 8:30am-5:30pm

Salary: 30,000 - 32,000

Duration: 14 month FTC

Your key responsibilities would be:

• Source goods and services from UK and international suppliers.
• Raise and manage MRP-driven purchase orders using SAP.
• Maintain and update SAP MM purchasing data, including source lists, info records, and material master settings.
• Manage supplier relationships, performance, delivery schedules, and costs.
• Expedite orders and proactively resolve shortages impacting production and aftersales operations.
• Coordinate import shipments via sea, air and courier networks.
• Investigate and resolve supplier quality issues alongside internal quality teams.
• Monitor supplier lead times and drive improvements in on-time delivery performance.
• Assist with reporting activities including supplier KPI performance, contract management and cost-saving initiatives.
• Identify risks within the supply chain and implement actions to maintain continuity of supply.
• Support colleagues within the Purchasing team as required.

You'll be the perfect candidate for this role if you have:

• Experience in a manufacturing purchasing, buying, or planning role.
• Proven experience purchasing mechanical components within a manufacturing environment.
• Strong understanding of planning, scheduling, inventory control and expediting.
• Experience managing supplier relationships and negotiating costs.
• Working knowledge of SAP MM.
• Knowledge of shipping, imports, and international logistics processes.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to supply chain management.
