Help adults and young people make lasting positive changes through evidence-based interventions, combining empathy, constructive challenge and accountability within safeguarding and risk management frameworks.

SALARY: £30,240 per annum + Benefits

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

LOCATION: Hybrid working with both site-based and remote work covering the Thames Valley Region

WORKING HOURS: 37 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday, including one evening session

 

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity for a Behaviour Change Practitioner to support meaningful change and safer outcomes for individuals, families and communities.

Using CBT and DBT-informed approaches, the Behaviour Change Practitioner delivers individual and group interventions across community, probation, prison, police and remote settings.

Working with police, probation and safeguarding partners, the Behaviour Change Practitioner balances empathy, accountability, professional curiosity and clear boundaries while contributing to public safety.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Behaviour Change Practitioner include:

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct assessments, inductions and personalised intervention planning
  • Behavioural Interventions: Deliver CBT and DBT-informed individual and group interventions that help participants recognise and change harmful behaviours
  • Case Management and Records: Manage case activity and maintain accurate, timely and professional records, reports, evaluations and progress updates
  • Partnership Working: Collaborate with police, probation, prisons, safeguarding teams and other professionals
  • Risk Management: Contribute to safeguarding and risk management processes, including MASH and MAPPA forums where required
  • Professional Practice: Participate in clinical and management supervision and maintain professional boundaries when managing challenging, resistant or high-risk behaviours

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

Essential

  • Experience working within risk management or safeguarding frameworks
  • Experience managing a caseload and competing priorities effectively
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and maintain professional boundaries
  • Experience delivering support face-to-face and remotely
  • Good IT, administration and record-keeping skills
  • Emotional resilience, self-awareness and the ability to remain calm, objective and solution-focused under pressure

Desirable

  • Qualification in Counselling, Psychology, Probation or a related discipline (or equivalent)
  • Knowledge or experience of Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT)
  • Experience contributing to MASH, MAPPA or similar multi-agency forums
  • Experience delivering interventions within criminal justice, social care or domestic abuse services
  • Understanding of social and psychological factors associated with domestic abuse and harmful behaviours
