SALARY: £26,741 - £28,147 per annum FTE (£16,809–£17,694 gross per year) + Benefits

LOCATION: Ealing, West London, with travel to other schemes including Sunbury-on-Thames

JOB TYPE: Part Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 22 hours per week

 

JOB OVERVIEW

This is a rewarding opportunity to join the organisation as a Housing Officer supporting residents while helping to maintain safe, secure and well-managed accommodation.

Working as part of a team, the Housing Officer will provide intensive housing management support to vulnerable residents, monitor the general safety and wellbeing of residents and help ensure building standards are maintained.

The Housing Officer will also support inspections, repairs reporting, contractor access, resident involvement, viewings, sign-ups, safeguarding reporting and the preparation of void rooms for allocation.

This is an onsite-based role. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle are essential, as regular travel between schemes is required. Business mileage will be reimbursed for travel between schemes, with Ealing as the designated base location.

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Housing Officer include:

  • Carry Out Building Inspections: Complete regular inspections, identify maintenance requirements and report repairs to the appropriate department
  • Maintain Building Safety and Security: Carry out patrols, CCTV monitoring, alarm testing and other checks, maintaining accurate records such as visitor logs and maintenance reports
  • Support Contractor Access: Direct service contractors where required, helping to ensure an efficient and cost-effective service is delivered
  • Act as Key Holder: Allow and supervise access to the building as appropriate
  • Support Viewings and Sign-Ups: Assist the housing team with viewings, sign-ups and helping new residents settle into their accommodation
  • Explain Housing Policies: Help residents understand housing management policies, including when reporting anti-social behaviour may be appropriate
  • Encourage Resident Involvement: Support consultation events and help ensure residents are kept informed and involved in decisions relating to their accommodation
  • Monitor Resident Wellbeing: Signpost residents to support services where appropriate and report safeguarding concerns using the correct procedures
  • Build Positive Relationships: Develop constructive working relationships with residents, care and support providers, commissioning bodies and the wider community
  • Prepare Void Rooms: Conduct void inspections and ensure rooms are ready for allocation, including cleaning duties and needle sweeps where required

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Educated to GCSE level or equivalent in Maths and English, grades A* to C
  • Experience in a customer-facing role
  • Experience of maintaining building health and safety requirements, including regular inspections and monitoring
  • Ability to use IT packages and management information systems
  • A valid driving licence and access to own transport are essential
  • Experience working with vulnerable people, including homeless residents, is desirable
  • Able to communicate clearly and professionally with residents, colleagues, contractors and external partners
  • Good record keeping skills and the ability to follow correct procedures, including safeguarding processes
