Domestic Abuse Preventions Worker

An excellent opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Preventions Worker to deliver trauma-informed behaviour change interventions, safeguarding support, risk assessment and casework within a specialist domestic abuse prevention service.

SALARY: Up to £27,417 pro rata + Benefits

LOCATION: We will consider candidates based in: Tees Valley, County Durham / Darlington, Northumberland and Newcastle, North East England (TS18)

JOB TYPE: Full-Time & Part-Time, Permanent Positions Available

WORKING HOURS: Up to 37.5 hours per week

The organisation has delivered needs-led services for more than 50 years for individuals and families affected by domestic abuse.

The Preventions Service aims to increase the safety and wellbeing of victims of domestic abuse and their children by providing targeted interventions for those who perpetrate abuse.

Working as the Domestic Abuse Preventions Worker, you will help deliver an effective, trauma-informed service, supporting people who use abusive behaviour to recognise harm, take accountability and work towards long-term, sustained change.

The service is particularly interested in hearing from candidates with experience of working with offenders, perpetrators of domestic abuse and/or people delivering behaviour change interventions.

As the Domestic Abuse Preventions Worker you will receive extensive and ongoing training.

DUTIES

Your duties as the Domestic Abuse Preventions Worker will include:

  • Deliver an effective and trauma-informed preventions service in line with contract requirements, policies and procedures
  • Work with colleagues to safeguard partners, ex-partners and children of people engaged with the service
  • Enable people who use abusive behaviour to develop respectful, non-abusive relationships through targeted interventions
  • Deliver one-to-one and group-based behaviour change interventions
  • Contribute to the reduction of domestic abuse by supporting people to reduce offending behaviour
  • Promote alternative, positive models of human relationships
  • Hold people accountable for their behaviour and support long-term, sustained change
  • Assess, manage and review risks to clients, colleagues and self
  • Facilitate a whole family approach to support, ensuring clear pathways into relevant services for all family members
  • Maintain effective information sharing between services
  • Work towards a planned conclusion of casework, including signposting into relevant universal or specialist community support

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to communicate effectively and professionally
  • Well-organised, with the ability to work using initiative
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Ability to work in a trauma-informed, respectful and non-judgemental way
  • Understanding of safeguarding, risk and the impact of domestic abuse
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle

DESIRABLE

  • Experience of working with offenders
  • Experience of working with perpetrators of domestic abuse
  • Experience of delivering behaviour change interventions
  • Experience of one-to-one or group-based casework support
