HR Advisor
Elland, West Yorkshire (Hybrid working - one/two days in the office)
Full time, Monday to Friday – 37.5 hours per week
Marshalls is the UK’s leading hard landscaping, building and roofing products supplier and has supplied some of the most prestigious landmarks in the UK since the 1890s. We’ve held Superbrand status since 2010, and we’re a successful FTSE 250. Every step we take and every product we make is geared towards making the world around us a better place to live.
We’ve always believed that great HR isn't always about policies or processes; it’s about understanding people, building trust, and being a reliable support system for our teams. We’re now looking for an experienced HR Advisor to join our People Services team in a hands-on, busy role supporting colleagues and leaders across our manufacturing sites and office functions. If you are looking for a position where you can make a real difference and see your ideas come to life, we want to hear from you.
So, what’s the opportunity?
You’ll provide expert advice and guidance in line with our HR practices and procedures. This means managing employee relations cases, such as performance and absence management, disciplinary and grievance, and appropriately challenging and investigating cases when needed. We're a busy team, so you need to be prepared to hit the ground running. You’ll have dedicated support from our Head of People Services and our HR Business Partners, who partner with our leaders. This role reports to the Head of People Services.
You’ll be the go-to support for our managers, coaching them on best practice, interpreting UK employment law, and managing casework from start to finish. This covers everything from notetaking in formal meetings and leading investigations to supporting with our drug and alcohol policy processes. You’ll also deliver HR introduction training to new managers, support occupational health referrals, and ensure we maintain strong, credible relationships with our union and site representatives.
While you'll manage your own caseload, you’ll also work closely with the wider HR team on company and HR objectives. You’ll collaborate on data and insights by keeping our case logs updated and monitoring absence triggers. When it comes to change management, complex employee relations, or policy overhauls, you will provide valuable support and first-hand experiences to our HR Business Partners and the Head of People Services.
This is a hybrid role with one to two days per week based in our Elland office. Flexibility will be required when travelling to our manufacturing sites across the UK to support our colleagues in person.
