Key Responsibilities of a Depot Driver (shunter): Safely move rolling stock within the depot, including positioning vehicles for maintenance, servicing, cleaning, or operational readiness. Carry out shunting movements in accordance with depot rules, safe systems of work, and company procedures. Operate vehicles and equipment competently and safely while maintaining effective communication with control teams, supervisors, and maintenance staff. Prepare trains/units for movement, including brake tests, securing vehicles, coupling/uncoupling activities, and confirming readiness for transfer.
