Role: Full Time Monday Friday Term Time Only

PK Education are recruiting a compassionate and resilient SEND Teaching Assistant to support pupils with profound autism spectrum disorder (ASD) within a specialist resource provision attached to a primary school in the Stanley area of Wakefield.

This role is ideal for individuals who are passionate about supporting children with complex needs and helping them access education in a safe, structured and nurturing environment.

The Role

You will be working closely with pupils who have profound ASD and complex learning needs, providing one-to-one and small group support to help them engage with daily learning activities and develop life skills.

Responsibilities include:

  • Supporting pupils with communication, engagement and sensory regulation
  • Providing personal care when required
  • Supporting structured routines and behaviour management strategies
  • Working closely with the class teacher and SENCO
  • Helping pupils access learning through adapted activities and visual support

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has experience working with Autism / SEND / complex needs
  • Is calm, patient and emotionally resilient
  • Is comfortable supporting personal care needs
  • Has experience working in schools, care, support work or youth settings
  • Is passionate about helping children reach their potential
