About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and motivated Senior Residential Support Worker to join our team and help lead the delivery of exceptional care for children and young people.
In this senior role, you will provide high-quality support, act as a positive role model, and take on additional responsibilities to guide the staff team, support the home s leadership, and ensure the highest standards of care and compliance.
You will work closely with the Team Leaders, Deputy Manager, and Registered Home Manager to maintain a safe, nurturing, and empowering environment where young people can thrive.
Key Responsibilities
-Direct Care & Support
Provide consistent, nurturing care inline with the Children s Act 1989, Children s Homes Regulations 2015, and Every Child Matters framework.
Offer 1:1 support, guidance, and advocacy to young people, especially during challenging times.
Ensure a safe, stable, and supportive environment for all young people.
Support daily living tasks and maintain structured, positive household routines.
Act as a key worker/co-worker, ensuring care plans are implemented, reviewed, and updated.
Encourage independence, resilience, and positive behaviour using supportive strategies.
-Development & Education
Promote young people s education, personal goals, hobbies, and community involvement.
Advocate for young people during meetings, reviews, and multi-agency discussions.
Encourage participation and involvement in their own care planning and future aspirations.
-Team Leadership & Professional Practice
Provide day-to-day guidance and support to junior staff.
Assist with shift leading, delegation of tasks, and ensuring team consistency.
Support the development, mentoring, and training of colleagues.
Uphold professional standards and act as a role model within the team.
Participate in supervision, training, and ongoing professional development.
Ensure all safeguarding, whistleblowing, and organisational policies are followed.
Promote a culture of equality, diversity, and inclusion.
-Record Keeping & Communication
Maintain high-quality, accurate records, reports, and documentation.
Support in preparing reports for meetings, inspections, and regulatory visits.
Communicate effectively with colleagues, professionals, and external agencies.
Contribute meaningfully to team meetings, care planning, and case discussions.
-Health, Safety & Compliance
Ensure the welfare and safety of young people, colleagues, and visitors at all times.
Report hazards, risks, or safeguarding concerns promptly and appropriately.
Maintain an up-to-date DBS and report any change in circumstances immediately.
Support the management team in ensuring the home meets regulatory standards.
Working Conditions
Rota-based role including early mornings, evenings, weekends, bank holidays, and sleep-in duties (additional payment provided).
Flexibility required to cover shifts, support emergencies, or respond to staffing needs.
Occasional involvement in household tasks (e.g., decorating, gardening) to support the home's upkeep.
A full UK driving licence may be required to drive company vehicles.
Adherence to all health & safety guidelines is essential.
