Cover Supervisor

Job title: Cover Supervisor - Mainstream Secondary
Location: Oldham
Contract: part-time

We are recruiting a Cover Supervisor to work in a busy mainstream secondary school in Oldham. This role is ideal for candidates with solid classroom experience who can confidently deliver pre-planned lessons to KS3 and KS4 pupils in the teacher's absence. This is not a tutoring or primary role.

Essential requirements:

  • Recent experience working with secondary-age pupils (11-16) in a UK school setting

  • Confident managing a classroom independently and following school behaviour policies

  • Ability to deliver pre-planned work across a range of subjects (no planning or marking required)

  • Strong behaviour management and presence in the classroom

Desirable:

  • Experience as a Cover Supervisor, Secondary TA, Instructor, or Secondary HLTA

  • Degree (or equivalent) or Level 3 qualification in education/childcare

Key responsibilities:

  • Supervising whole classes during teacher absence, using pre-prepared lesson plans

  • Maintaining a calm, focused learning environment and following school behaviour procedures

  • Taking registers, giving instructions, and ensuring work is completed

  • Supporting pupils with questions and keeping them on task
