Key responsibilities will include:

  • Managing your own portfolio of clients and their day-to-day bookkeeping requirements.
  • Processing purchase and sales invoices, payments, receipts and bank transactions.
  • Preparing management accounts and monthly financial statements.
  • Producing profit and loss accounts, balance sheets and cash flow information.
  • Preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Completing bank, supplier and customer reconciliations.
  • Monitoring bank balances and assisting with cash flow management.
  • Identifying discrepancies and resolving accounting queries.
  • Supporting clients with cloud accounting software, including Xero, QuickBooks and Sage.

The Ideal Candidate

We are keen to speak with candidates who have a solid background in bookkeeping and enjoy working in a client-facing environment.

You may be AAT qualified, studying towards your AAT qualification or qualified by experience. Ideally, you will have around 3-5 years' bookkeeping experience, gained within an accountancy practice, bookkeeping bureau or through self-employment.

You will also ideally bring:

  • Good all-round bookkeeping and management accounts experience.
  • Experience preparing and submitting VAT returns.
  • Confidence working with a variety of clients and building strong relationships.
  • Knowledge of accounting packages such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage or KashFlow.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • A proactive, professional and personable approach, with a genuine commitment to delivering excellent client service.

Why Consider This Opportunity?

This is much more than simply another bookkeeping position. It offers the opportunity to join a successful and growing accountancy practice where you will be trusted with your own client portfolio, given real responsibility and supported by an experienced and approachable team.

For someone looking to develop their career within practice, enjoy a varied workload and become part of a genuinely supportive working environment, this could be an excellent next move.
