Finance Assistant

Job Description

Finance Assistant

£32,000 - £38,000

Are you looking to take the next step in your finance career within a fast-paced, dynamic environment?

We're partnering with an established and growing hospitality business to recruit a Finance Assistant into its finance team. This is a hands-on opportunity to play a key role in supporting the financial operations of a busy hospitality environment, ensuring accurate financial information, effective controls and insightful reporting.

Working closely with operational management and the wider finance team, you'll gain exposure to a broad range of financial activities, from daily reconciliations and credit control through to payments, reporting and financial analysis.

It's an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working with numbers, takes ownership of their work and wants to develop their career within a supportive finance function.

The Role

  • Complete daily revenue, payment, cash and card reconciliations, investigating and resolving discrepancies.

  • Review daily operational financial information to ensure records are accurate and complete.

  • Maintain key financial performance reports, including profitability, departmental reporting and sales forecasts.

  • Monitor outstanding debt, follow up with customers and support improvements in debtor days.

  • Process approved invoices and payment runs, ensuring transactions are accurately coded and recorded.

  • Support payroll productivity reporting by maintaining accurate daily sales information.

  • Assist with accrual analysis and provide financial information to support the wider finance team.

  • Work closely with operational managers, providing financial analysis and responding to queries.

What We're Looking For

  • Previous experience in an accounting or finance role, ideally within hospitality or a similarly fast-paced environment.

  • Strong numerical skills and excellent attention to detail.

  • Competent use of Microsoft 365 applications, particularly Excel.

  • An organised and self-motivated approach, with the ability to prioritise and meet deadlines.

  • Confidence working independently while contributing positively to a wider team.

  • Experience with purchase-to-pay, invoice processing or purchase order systems would be advantageous.

  • Experience using an accounting system such as NetSuite, or a similar platform, would also be beneficial.

The Opportunity

This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established hospitality business in a varied Finance Assistant role, offering exposure to both operational finance and financial reporting.

If you're looking for a role where you can develop your skills, take ownership and make a tangible contribution to business performance, we'd love to hear from you.
