Nottingham Derby Mansfield Chesterfield 6 Month Contract
Are you an experienced Mechanical Draughtsperson with strong Autodesk Inventor skills and a background in fabrication or safety critical engineering, looking for a varied contract with real exposure to large scale bespoke projects? Do you enjoy producing detailed manufacturing drawings and seeing them built into heavy engineering products?
My client is a key player in the design and manufacture of special purpose machinery for the power generation sector, supplying blue chip customers across oil and gas, power generation and aerospace. They require a Mechanical Draughtsperson to start ASAP on an initial 6-month contract.
This is a hands-on contract within the Engineering team, supporting the design and development of new and existing products. The work is varied, with a mix of projects coming through at any one time, so you ll need to be an all-rounder who is comfortable picking up work at different stages. Products are welded fabrications, used both on shore and offshore, so attention to detail is key.
Your responsibilities:
Your day-to-day work will involve producing detailed manufacturing, arrangement and engineering drawings, and developing and amending 2D and 3D CAD models using Autodesk Inventor. You ll interpret engineering drawings, design information and supplier documentation, and check drawings and mechanical interfaces, dimensions and fits for accuracy and compliance with company standards. You ll issue and manage drawings through Autodesk Vault, and work closely with the design team, other departments, customers and suppliers to deliver to the required standards of quality, cost and programme. You ll also provide regular progress updates to the Engineering Manager and look for opportunities to improve drawing standards and working processes.
What We re Looking For
To be successful in this role, you ll need a Mechanical Engineering qualification, ideally HND/HNC level and backed up with a degree, along with experience in a mechanical engineering or draughting role. You should have a good understanding of mechanical engineering principles, experience producing detailed engineering or manufacturing drawings, and the ability to interpret technical specifications. Experience in safety critical or offshore engineering from oil and gas, aerospace, energy, manufacturing or welding fabrication backgrounds is highly desirable. Knowledge of fabrication drawings, structural design codes, acoustic and noise control principles, CDM regulations and machinery directives, and hazard identification would also be beneficial.
