Join Our Community Caf Team!

Hours: 37 hours per week

Monday to Thursday: 7:30am to 3:30pm, Friday: 8:00am to 3:30pm

Are you passionate about food, great customer service, and making a positive difference in your local community?

We're looking for a friendly, enthusiastic and reliable Community Caf Assistant to join our welcoming team at WestRaven Community Caf & Garden. Working alongside our Caf Manager and Assistant Chef, you'll help create a warm and inclusive environment where customers, volunteers and community members feel valued and supported.

This is more than just a caf role. You'll play an important part in supporting a community space that brings people together and promotes wellbeing, inclusion and social connection.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Supporting the day-to-day operation of the caf .
  • Carrying out food preparation, baking, cooking, and buffet production.
  • Providing excellent customer service to all visitors.
  • Maintaining high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and safety.
  • Supporting caf opening and closing procedures and cash handling when required.
  • Working with and supporting volunteers.
  • Building positive relationships with people from all backgrounds, including children, older people and vulnerable individuals.
  • Assisting with community events and activities.
  • Helping us maintain an environmentally sustainable caf .
  • Running front of house and being a welcoming presence.
  • Assisting or leading small community/work experience cooking sessions.

What We're Looking For

You will have:

  • Experience working with food preparation, cooking, and handling food safely.
  • A confident, positive, understanding, and helpful personality.
  • An understanding of food hygiene standards.
  • Previous experience in a customer-facing role.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
  • The ability to work well under pressure.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Be willing to undertake an Enhanced DBS check

It Would Be Great If You Also Have:

  • Level 3 Food Hygiene Certificate.
  • Level 2 Culinary Skills or Professional Cookery qualification (or equivalent).
