SALARY: £34,069 to £52,835 per annum (Actual), MPR/UPR + Benefits

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Maths Teacher to join a supportive, well-resourced department and help students build confidence, curiosity and a love of mathematics.

Working within a collaborative team, the Maths Teacher will teach students aged 11–16 using a fully resourced curriculum, with technology supporting independent study across KS3 and KS4.

The Maths Teacher will support strong progress, inclusive classroom practice, effective assessment and the wider life of the school while developing teaching practice and subject knowledge.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Maths Teacher include:

  • High Expectations and Student Progress: Set challenging goals, create a safe and stimulating environment and support strong attainment, progress and outcomes
  • Subject and Curriculum Knowledge: Maintain secure Mathematics and curriculum knowledge, foster student interest and contribute to an engaging curriculum
  • Lesson Planning and Adaptive Teaching: Plan well-structured lessons, use lesson time effectively and adapt teaching to students’ strengths and needs
  • Assessment and Feedback: Use formative and summative assessment, monitor progress, set targets and provide regular feedback
  • Behaviour and Learning Environment: Establish clear routines, manage behaviour consistently and maintain positive relationships with students
  • Professional Responsibilities and Relationships: Work effectively with colleagues, support staff and parents and contribute positively to the wider life of the school
  • Professional Development and Innovation: Keep up to date with pedagogy, technology and curriculum initiatives and respond to professional advice and feedback
  • Classroom Resources and Safety: Manage classroom resources, maintain the learning environment and report health and safety defects
  • School Development and Representation: Contribute to school development priorities and represent the curriculum area on relevant working groups when required

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

  • Qualified Teacher Status OR Early Career Teacher (ECT) status
  • Ability to teach Mathematics to students aged 11–16
  • Secure subject and curriculum knowledge, with the ability to foster student interest and address misunderstandings
  • Ability to plan structured lessons, adapt teaching and support students with differing strengths and needs
  • Ability to assess progress accurately, use relevant data and provide effective feedback
  • Ability to manage behaviour and create a safe, respectful and inclusive learning environment
  • Commitment to safeguarding students’ wellbeing and maintaining high professional standards
  • Ability to build effective professional relationships and communicate with parents regarding student achievement and wellbeing
