What's the mission?
In this hands on role, you’ll set up and operate a range of workshop machinery to produce high quality metal components to the required specifications. This will include working with manual lathes and milling machines, as well as carrying out drilling, tapping and reaming operations. You’ll also use metal bending and rolling equipment, abrasive wheels, grinders and other workshop machinery, selecting the appropriate tooling, cutting speeds and feeds for different materials and tasks. You’ll be confident reading and interpreting engineering drawings, dimensions and tolerances, and using precision measuring equipment such as verniers, micrometres and gauges to ensure accuracy.
You’ll take responsibility for checking the quality of finished components, identifying and reporting any defects, machinery faults or quality concerns, and carrying out routine machine maintenance to keep equipment in good working order. You’ll maintain a clean, organised and safe workshop environment, following all company health and safety procedures and ensuring machinery and abrasive wheels are used correctly. Working both independently and as part of the wider team, you’ll manage your workload effectively to meet production schedules and deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
