Are you an Intermediate or Senior Mechanical Engineer looking for a role where you can take genuine ownership of projects, work across technically challenging buildings, and have direct involvement with clients and the wider design team?

This is an opportunity to join an established multidisciplinary engineering consultancy with over 30 years of experience, bringing together mechanical, electrical, public health, fire engineering, sustainability, project management and building validation expertise.

The business works across the UK and internationally, delivering coordinated engineering solutions across sectors including commercial, residential, healthcare, education, data centres, industrial, defence and aviation.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you'll become an important part of the MEP team, taking responsibility for the technical delivery of projects while working alongside engineers from other disciplines.

The consultancy's approach is centred around practical engineering, buildability, coordination and value engineering, rather than design in isolation. You'll therefore have the opportunity to see your work develop from early feasibility through to detailed design, construction and completion.

You'll be responsible for:

• Leading mechanical building services design across a variety of projects
• Taking projects through relevant RIBA stages, from early concept through to technical delivery
• Developing HVAC strategies and producing calculations, specifications and technical documentation
• Working closely with electrical, public health and fire engineering teams to deliver fully coordinated designs
• Attending client, contractor and design team meetings
• Providing technical input and resolving complex engineering challenges
• Reviewing designs and ensuring technical quality throughout project delivery
• Supporting and mentoring junior and intermediate engineers
• Developing strong relationships with clients, architects and other project stakeholders
• Contributing to the continued growth and development of the mechanical engineering team

• Strong experience in mechanical building services design
• Proven consultancy experience across one or more relevant sectors
• Strong technical understanding of HVAC and mechanical systems
• Experience taking ownership of projects and technical deliverables
• Comfortable working directly with clients, architects and contractors
• Good understanding of UK regulations, standards and industry best practice
• Experience mentoring or supporting less experienced engineers
• Chartered or working towards chartership would be advantageous

End-to-end project exposure - The team delivers MEP design from RIBA Stage 0 through to Stage 7, including design development, tender support, construction monitoring and post-occupancy evaluation.
