Income Generation & Development Lead

Merrifield Consultants are delighted to be partnering with Mary Frances Trust, Surrey's largest mental health charity, to recruit an Income Generation & Development Lead. This is a newly created role and a significant investment in the organisation's long-term sustainability, with responsibility for building and leading a new income generation function.

Salary: 55,000 - 60,000 per year pro rata

Contract: Permanent

Working pattern: 3 days per week (0.6 FTE) or 4 days per week (0.8 FTE), hybrid

About the role

Mary Frances Trust is entering an exciting new phase, with a focus on strengthening and diversifying its income, increasing unrestricted funding and developing strategic partnerships that support long-term impact across Surrey.

As Income Generation & Development Lead, you will establish and lead a high-performing income generation function, bringing strategy, structure and momentum to activity that is currently fragmented and underdeveloped.

This is not a traditional fundraising role. You will combine strategic thinking with hands-on delivery, building pipelines, securing funding, developing partnerships and creating the systems and relationships needed to support sustainable growth.

The role offers significant scope to influence organisational strategy, identify new opportunities and build the foundations for a more resilient and diverse income model.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and lead Mary Frances Trust's income generation strategy, aligned with organisational priorities and its long-term sustainability ambitions.
• Build, manage and convert a strong pipeline of opportunities across trusts and foundations, statutory funding, corporate partnerships, major donors and other income streams.
• Develop strategic partnerships and collaborative opportunities, including working with Catalyst Support on selected initiatives and joint funding opportunities.
• Strengthen the organisation's case for support, external positioning and approach to developing new income opportunities.
• Establish the systems, processes and structure needed to create a focused, effective and sustainable income generation function.

About you

You will bring a strong track record of securing income across multiple fundraising streams, with evidence of building and converting pipelines into sustainable income.

You will be:

• A strategic and commercially minded income generation professional who can identify opportunities and turn them into tangible results
• An experienced fundraiser with a proven ability to secure income from trusts and foundations, statutory sources, corporate partners, major donors or other relevant streams
• A strong relationship builder, able to develop credible partnerships and influence senior stakeholders
• Hands-on and delivery-focused, with the ability to build systems and processes from scratch while remaining accountable for results
• Resilient, autonomous and comfortable working in a fast-moving and evolving environment where you will have significant scope to shape the role
