Pay Range: £28,666 £30,442 actual (£32,779 £34,810 FTE)
Contract Type: Temp to Perm, 37.5 hours per week (term time plus INSET days)

ANZUK Education is working with a secondary school in Westminster seeking an experienced Education Welfare Officer on a temp-to-perm basis. This position offers the opportunity to help students overcome barriers to education, improve attendance and support families, with the potential to secure a permanent position.

The school is known for its strong safeguarding and pastoral teams and its proactive, supportive approach to student welfare, creating an environment where staff can focus on making a genuine difference to vulnerable students and their families.

This Education Welfare Officer role in Westminster would suit experienced attendance professionals, welfare officers, or pastoral support staff with a proactive, empathetic approach to supporting young people.

Key Responsibilities of an Education Welfare Officer:

• Monitor attendance and punctuality, identify patterns and deliver targeted interventions.
• Build positive relationships with students and families, including carrying out home visits where required.
• Work with safeguarding colleagues and external agencies to support vulnerable students.
• Manage attendance records, census returns and reports for senior leaders.
• Support children missing education procedures and attendance enforcement processes.
• Represent the school at multi-agency meetings and maintain accurate, confidential case records.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Have previous experience within a school attendance team.
• Demonstrate strong communication skills and confidence handling sensitive conversations with families.
• Have an understanding of the barriers affecting school attendance, with excellent organisation, attention to detail and confident use of databases and spreadsheets.
• Bring a proactive, empathetic approach to supporting young people.
• Hold an exemplary commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, with an enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one) and eligibility to work in the UK.
• Hold a first aid qualification (or willingness to undertake training), working collaboratively within a team.
