Civil Design Engineer

I'm working with a well-established multidisciplinary built environment consultancy that is looking to strengthen its London civil engineering team with an experienced Civil Engineer.

The consultancy works across a diverse range of sectors including education, residential, commercial, healthcare, defence, aviation and wider infrastructure, giving you the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects from planning through to construction.

This would suit a Civil Engineer looking to develop their technical experience across highways, drainage and development infrastructure, while working alongside a wider multidisciplinary design team.

You'll be involved in the design and delivery of civil engineering projects from early planning stages through to construction, with opportunities to work on both multidisciplinary projects and standalone civil engineering schemes.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Producing civil engineering design drawings and specifications for planning, pricing and construction
• Designing highways, drainage and development infrastructure
• Designing sustainable drainage systems and SuDS
• Highway and pavement design
• Earthworks engineering and cut-and-fill assessments
• Underground services and utilities
• Flood alleviation schemes
• Pumping stations and sewerage systems
• External works and infrastructure
• Preparing and supporting S278, S38 and S104 agreements
• Working with wider design teams, clients, contractors and other stakeholders
• Attending construction sites to respond to contractor queries and monitor works against design
• Providing technical input throughout projects from concept through to completion
• Supporting continuous improvement within the civil engineering team

We're looking for a Civil Engineer with solid consultancy experience and a genuine interest in developing their career within highways, drainage and development infrastructure.

You'll ideally have:

• A relevant Civil Engineering degree
• Experience in a similar civil engineering consultancy role
• Good knowledge of S104, S106, S185, S278 and S38 agreements
• Understanding of Building Regulations Part H and Part M
• Good working knowledge of Civil 3D and AutoCAD
• Experience using InfoDrainage and/or MicroDrainage
• Strong understanding of drainage design and SuDS
• Experience with highways and earthworks/cut-and-fill design
• Good communication and client-facing skills
• A proactive approach to problem-solving and technical design
• Ideally working towards Chartered Engineer status, or already professionally qualified
