Annual Salary: £25,000 - £30,000

Location: YO24

Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Legal Cashier to join our client's friendly team. This role involves meticulous management of financial transactions and adherence to legal financial regulations. The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, processing payments, and ensuring compliance with the SRA Accounts Rules.

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Accurate recording of financial transactions using computerised accounts software and keeping ledgers up to date.
  • Monitoring incoming client funds on the banking portal and allocating them to the correct files.
  • Setting up and sending electronic payments including FP, Chaps, and transfers with high attention to detail.
  • Preparation and processing of cheques and checking and processing bills.
  • Checking Conveyancing completion statements and Probate Estates, and setting up Conveyancing completions for processing on completion day.
  • Handling accounts-related enquiries and correspondence from all offices.
  • Bookkeeping and accounts maintenance in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules, Quality Procedures Manual, and Lexcel/CQS requirements.
  • Processing petty cash and ordering stationery/toners upon request.
  • Managing file closures, filing, and other administrative tasks.
  • Maintaining the confidentiality and security of account information.
  • Ensuring compliance with the SRA Code of Conduct, SRA Accounts Rules, and Equality and Diversity Policy.
  • Contributing to maintaining a safe and healthy working environment and improving office procedures.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Legal Cashier or similar role within a legal environment.
  • Familiarity with SRA Accounts Rules and legal financial regulations.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy in handling financial transactions.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using financial software and MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to handle confidential information.
