Regulatory Chemist / Development Chemist

A hands-on scientific role within a growing international dairy hygiene company focused on agricultural disease control and dairy plant cleaning. The role combines product innovation, chemical compliance and manufacturing support, with the opportunity to influence formulations, technical standards and future product development across specialist hygiene and infection control products.

SALARY: Up to £60,000 per annum pro rata      

LOCATION: Remote / Home Based, with travel as needed to the production site in County Wexford, Ireland

JOB TYPE: Part-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 15–30 Hours per Week (to be discussed during the interview)

 

JOB OVERVIEW

This is an excellent opportunity for a Regulatory Chemist / Development Chemist to join a growing dairy hygiene business focused on agricultural disease control, dairy plant cleaning and specialist infection control solutions.

Working across product development, regulatory compliance and technical support, the Regulatory Chemist / Development Chemist will help develop new products, improve existing formulations and maintain robust technical documentation and compliance across international markets.

The Regulatory Chemist / Development Chemist will also support manufacturing quality, chemical safety and technical problem-solving, contributing to the continued development of the company’s technical capability and product innovation pipeline.

 

DUTIES

Your duties as the Regulatory Chemist / Development Chemist include:

  • Product Development and Formulation: Develop new specialist chemical products from concept to commercial manufacture and improve existing formulations for performance, stability, manufacturing efficiency and profitability
  • Testing and Technical Evaluation: Coordinate third-party laboratory evaluations, efficacy testing and field trials, while assessing new technologies, ingredients and formulation techniques
  • Regulatory Compliance and Documentation: Prepare and maintain registrations, notifications, Safety Data Sheets, labels and technical documentation across operating markets
  • Chemical Legislation and Product Stewardship: Support compliance with biocides, detergents, dangerous goods and chemical classification requirements, monitor regulatory developments and liaise with authorities and consultants
  • Quality and Manufacturing Support: Provide technical advice, support batch testing protocols, product specifications, raw material approvals and supplier documentation, and investigate technical issues
  • Environmental, Health and Safety: Maintain chemical risk assessments, COSHH documentation and safe operating procedures, supporting hazardous substance management and chemical safety training
  • Commercial and Technical Support: Provide technical input to colleagues and customers, support technical literature and product claims, and contribute to the long-term innovation pipeline

 

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

ESSENTIAL

  • Degree in Chemistry or a related scientific discipline
  • Experience in biocide formulation, product development, regulatory affairs or quality within chemicals, dairy or food hygiene, agriculture or related industries
  • Knowledge of chemical legislation and product stewardship
  • Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects
  • Willingness to learn and develop within a growing international business
