The school supports children and young people aged 3-19 with a range of complex needs, including:

• Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD)
• Severe Learning Difficulties and Autism (SLD/ASC)
• Profound and Multiple Learning Difficulties (PMLD)

The Role

As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and specialist staff to provide personalised support that enables students to learn, communicate, develop their independence and reach their full potential.

The role can involve supporting students with a wide range of needs, including:

• Supporting learning and development both in and outside the classroom
• Providing one-to-one and small-group support
• Supporting communication and engagement
• Assisting students with personal care where required
• Supporting with feeding and mealtimes
• Helping students develop independence and life skills
• Managing and responding appropriately to challenging or complex behaviours
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other professionals
• Creating a safe, nurturing and inclusive environment for all students

Candidates must have previous experience working with children or young people with SEND. Experience within specialist SEN, PMLD, SLD, autism or complex-needs settings would be highly desirable.
