Women's Knitwear Designer North West Excellent + 6k Car Allowance
Knitwear is your thing. Fashion is your passion. And commercial product? You know how to make it happen.
We're looking for a Women's Knitwear Designer to join a fast-paced, collaborative design team in the North West - and this is a brilliant opportunity for someone who wants to make a real impact.
This isn't about simply designing a few nice jumpers and calling it a day. We're looking for someone with serious knitwear knowledge, strong fashion awareness and a distinctive design handwriting who can help take an already-elevated womenswear offer to the next level.
You'll work closely with Buying, Merchandising and Design to develop commercially strong, fashion-focused ranges - from initial concept and seasonal direction through to product development and final delivery. You'll also have the opportunity to get involved in how the product is brought to life and presented to the customer.
What you'll be doing
Creating exciting, commercially relevant knitwear ranges that feel fashion-forward but right for the customer
Helping shape the seasonal design direction and range framework for your categories
Working closely with Buyers and Merchandisers to balance creativity, trends and commerciality
Translating the latest fashion trends into product with a strong point of view
Owning product development and seeing ideas through from concept to reality
Developing innovative new product opportunities, techniques and knitwear ideas
Using market, customer and trading insight to continually evolve the range
Building strong relationships with suppliers and working collaboratively on new techniques and product innovation
Supporting and mentoring Trainee and Assistant Designers
Working cross-functionally to make sure product delivers on fit, shape, quality and value
What we're looking for
This role needs someone who can make an immediate impact.
You'll ideally have a strong womenswear background, with genuine knitwear expertise and experience working at pace and volume within a high-street or large-scale retail environment.
You'll bring:
Excellent knitwear knowledge
A strong eye for fashion, trend and detail
A distinctive design handwriting
A great commercial instinct
Experience designing womenswear knitwear/jersey
Strong Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop skills
Experience working with suppliers and third-party partners
The confidence to work collaboratively across Design, Buying and Merchandising
Experience supporting or developing more junior designers
Most importantly, we want to see your creative portfolio. We're looking for someone whose work immediately shows their creativity, taste and understanding of what makes great commercial fashion.
Why this role?
The design team has recently gone through an exciting period of change, with a number of internal promotions creating a more experienced and collaborative team. Now they're looking for a specialist knitwear designer to join them and help continue the evolution of the womenswear proposition.
There's plenty of scope to make your mark, work closely with senior stakeholders and develop your career - with future opportunities to progress.
If you're a knitwear specialist who knows your gauge from your garment wash, has a portfolio you're genuinely proud of and wants to create product that customers actually want to wear - we want to hear from you.
