Rate: 280- 290 a day

Job Type: Contract 12 months

We are looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer with strong hands-on Golang coding experience and solid Java development skills to join a project for a leading financial services organisation.

A key requirement for this role is practical experience using AI tools as part of the software development lifecycle, including leveraging AI-assisted development tools to improve coding productivity, debugging, testing, documentation and overall engineering efficiency.

Mandatory:

• Strong hands-on experience with Golang (Go)
• Strong experience with Java
• Approximately 10 years of overall software engineering experience
• At least 5 years of relevant development experience
• Strong software engineering and problem-solving skills
• Experience developing and maintaining production-grade applications
• Hands-on experience using AI tools in software development

Good to Have:

• SQL
• Apache Kafka
• Experience working with distributed and scalable systems
• Experience working in Agile development environments

Candidates should be comfortable using modern AI-assisted development tools in their day-to-day engineering work, including tools for:

• Code generation and code completion
• Code refactoring and optimisation
• Debugging and troubleshooting
• Unit test generation
• Documentation
• Developer productivity and automation

• Design, develop, test and maintain high-quality software applications
• Write clean, efficient and maintainable Golang and Java code
• Work closely with architects, developers, QA and other stakeholders
• Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
• Contribute to technical design and implementation decisions
• Develop and maintain APIs and backend services
• Participate in code reviews and engineering best practices
• Use AI-assisted development tools effectively to enhance engineering productivity
• Support application testing, deployment and production issues
• Contribute to continuous improvement of development processes

• Contract duration: 1 year initially
• Location: Burgess Hill, UK
• Working model: Hybrid
• Working hours: 40 hours per week
• Expected start: Within 1 month of acceptance
• Rate: 40 per hour
• Remote from elsewhere in Europe: Not available
