JOB OVERVIEW
We have a great opportunity for an experienced Childcare Tutor who can inspire young people, support learner achievement and help learners build the confidence, knowledge and employability skills they need for future education, apprenticeships or employment.
Working as the Childcare Tutor, you will manage learners’ journeys from initial interview and assessment through to successful completion and accreditation. You will deliver engaging teaching, learning and assessment, provide pastoral and tutorial support, track progress and maintain accurate learner records.
As the Childcare Tutor, you will also support learners with English and Maths, working alongside specialist teams, and contribute to high standards of teaching, learning and assessment in line with the Education Inspection Framework.
DUTIES
Your duties as the Childcare Tutor will include:
- Teaching and Assessment: Deliver engaging Childcare teaching and assessment for learners studying Level 1 and Level 2 qualifications
- Learner Journey Management: Support learners from initial interview and assessment through to completion, accreditation and progression
- Progress Tracking: Monitor learner progress, use assessment data effectively and maintain accurate records and documentation
- English and Maths Support: Support learners to progress with English and Maths qualifications, working with specialist teams where required
- Pastoral Support: Provide tutorial and pastoral support that helps learners overcome barriers and achieve positive outcomes
- Employability Development: Embed employability, social skills, personal development and confidence-building into learning activities
- Teaching Standards: Plan and deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment that supports learner success and inspection readiness
- Digital Learning: Use ICT, educational technologies and digital tools to support delivery, monitoring and learner engagement
- Curriculum Support: Contribute to course reviews, curriculum development, quality assurance and standardisation activity
- Safeguarding and Inclusion: Promote safeguarding, equality, diversity and learner wellbeing across all teaching and support activity
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
ESSENTIAL
- PGCE or equivalent recognised teaching qualification
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in Childcare
- Recent and relevant industry experience working with children in an early years, childcare or educational setting
- Sound understanding of safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
- Passion for teaching, training and learner success
- Organised, proactive approach with the ability to meet deadlines and manage administrative responsibilities effectively
- Confidence using IT systems and educational technologies to monitor progress, maintain records and support delivery
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
DESIRABLE
- GCSE Grade 4 / C or above, Functional Skills Level 2, or an equivalent qualification in English and Maths
- Experience of teaching or training learners aged 16–19 within a Further Education or vocational setting
- Experience supporting learners with Education, Health and Care Plans and adapting teaching to meet individual learning needs
- Knowledge of the Education Inspection Framework and inspection requirements
