Job Description

Apprentice Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Technician
Salary:
£16,133 + Benefits
Site Location: Marley, Keele Works, Ridge Hill Dr, Madeley Heath, Crewe, CW3 9LY
College Location: Online

Ever wondered who is behind the UK’s most famous landmarks? From the paving in our city centres to the roofs over our heads, Marshalls plc has been leading the way since the 1890s. We are a FTSE 250 Superbrand, but we do more than just manufacture; we create the foundations of the world around us.

Our operations are organised into three distinct divisions: Marshalls Landscape Products, Marshalls Building Products, and Marley Roofing Products. Within our Marley Roofing division, we know that great businesses are built by great people - and that every career has to start somewhere.

Our Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality (SHEQ) Technician team plays a huge part in making sure our sites are safe, sustainable and operating to the highest standards every single day. From looking after the wellbeing of our people, to supporting environmental goals and maintaining quality across our products, no two days are ever the same.

As a SHEQ Technician Apprentice, you’ll become part of a supportive team where you’ll learn by doing, gain hands-on experience in a real manufacturing environment and develop skills that can open the door to a long-term career. You’ll work alongside experienced colleagues across Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality, helping to keep Marley Roofing compliant, responsible and continuously improving.

So, what’s the role?
This is not a role where you’ll just sit behind a desk filing paperwork - you’ll be out on site, working with different teams, learning how a busy manufacturing environment operates and playing a real part in making improvements across the business.

From supporting safety inspections and environmental checks to helping investigate incidents and keeping important systems up to date, you’ll gain hands-on experience across Environmental, Health, Safety and Quality. You’ll learn how international standards like ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 work in the real world and why they matter to a global manufacturing business like Marley Roofing.

You’ll work closely with experienced colleagues to support audits, quality testing, training records and risk assessments, while helping to promote a positive safety culture across site. Along the way, you’ll build practical skills, confidence and industry knowledge that can open the door to a long-term career in EHSQ.

This is a real career path with a clear and supported structure. You will follow a 12-month programme delivered in partnership with Deere Apprenticeships, combined with hands on mentoring from our site-based teams.

The Result:
Qualify as a Level 3 Safety, Health, Environmental and Quality Technician with a permanent job
