Electronics Engineering Team Lead

Based in Green Park, Reading (Hybrid module)

We’re seeking an experienced electronics engineer to take on an engineering leadership role. Our Opportunity

Lead and manage a team of electronics engineers through all stages of the product lifecycle, ensuring design tasks meet cost, schedule, performance, and quality targets. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams (systems, software, mechanical) to deliver electronics solutions aligned with business needs. Provide technical oversight, direction, and hands-on design work.

Ensure products comply with regulatory safety and environmental standards including EMC, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, and relevant Safety Directives

Key responsibilities of the role

The role will include the following activities:

  • Manage daily activities of an engineering team: plan, prioritize, and allocate tasks across projects.
  • Provide technical guidance to address and mitigate technical risks and challenges.
  • Design electronic systems and circuit assemblies.
  • Develop electronics specifications, architectures, and development/verification plans.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to create optimal solutions.
  • Facilitate high-quality technical discussions within the team.
  • Support Electronics team growth by mentoring junior staff, suggesting improvements, and reviewing peers’ work.
  • Lead or take part in fault-finding, technical investigations, reviews, and improvement initiatives.
  • Lead bid generation, estimating, and consultancy on electronic solutions.
  • Ensure team work complies with company processes and standards

About you

  • Proven ability to deliver innovative electronics solutions on time and within budget.
  • Skilled in circuit design using tools like Cadence and Mentor Graphics.
  • Experienced across full product lifecycle: bid to integration and support.
  • Confident in challenging norms and improving design processes.
  • Expert in advising and managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Successful in adopting new technologies and methods.
  • Contributor to policy and guideline development.
  • Experienced in mentoring junior engineers.
  • Knowledge of lasers and cameras is a plus.

This role requires you to be a UK National and achieve Security Clearance (SC) without any caveats. It would be advantageous if currently held, however, if not currently held, it is a requirement that the successful applicant undergo, achieve, and maintain SC Clearance prior to commencing employment. If approved by the MOD, a dual national from a non-ITAR country may be considered.

To be eligible for full SC, you generally need to have resided in the UK for the last 5 years. In some circumstances, a minimum of 3 years’ residence in the UK over the last 5 years may be accepted, with additional overseas checks.
