SEND Teaching Assistant
Shirley, West Midlands (due to location, a driving licence and access to a car is essential)
109 per day
Start Date: ASAP
Contract: Full-time, temp-to-perm
Hours: 08:00-16:00 or 08:30-16:30 (flexibility to work both shift patterns is required)

Long Term Futures is seeking a dedicated and adaptable Teaching Assistant to join a specialist SEND school in Shirley, supporting a small cohort of pupils with Autism. The school supports up to 26 pupils, all of whom have an EHCP and a diagnosis of Autism, across both primary and secondary age groups.

This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who is passionate about providing tailored 1:1 support and helping pupils with additional needs thrive in a structured and nurturing environment.

About the Role
Working closely with class teachers, the SENCo, and wider professionals, your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
Providing consistent 1:1 support to pupils across primary and secondary age ranges
Supporting students within the classroom and in structured breakout spaces
Assisting with the delivery of personalised learning activities tailored to individual needs
Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and transitions throughout the school day
Implementing strategies to support communication, engagement, and learning
Monitoring progress and behaviour, feeding back to staff and parents where required
Encouraging independence, social interaction, and confidence
Working collaboratively with staff to deliver individualised support plans

Ideal Candidate Profile
Experience working with pupils with Autism and/or within a SEND setting
Passionate about providing 1:1 support to children and young people
Calm, patient, and resilient in a specialist environment
Able to build strong, trusting relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
Reliable and committed to a long-term role
Must hold a valid driving licence and have access to a vehicle
Flexible and able to work both required shift patterns
