An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Accounts Payable Team Leader to manage a team of six Finance Assistants within a high-volume, fast-paced environment. This role is responsible for overseeing daily operational delivery, ensuring compliance with sector-specific tax regulations, driving performance excellence, and supporting continuous improvement across the Purchase to Pay function.
You will play a key part in maintaining service standards, supporting team development, and acting as a central point of escalation for both internal and external stakeholders.
Your new role
Reporting to the AP Team Manager:-
Team Leadership & Performance
- Lead, develop and motivate a team of six Finance Assistants within a hybrid working environment, ensuring consistent delivery and adherence to relevant tax compliance requirements.
- Coordinate team workloads, plan and organise work schedules, and manage capacity effectively.
- Take responsibility for daily task allocation, performance monitoring and achieving operational targets.
- Report directly to the Purchase to Pay Manager, providing insight on team performance and workflow efficiencies.
Operational Delivery
- Ensure all queries and issues are resolved within agreed Service Level Agreements.
- Act as the primary escalation point for complex or unresolved issues raised by internal teams or vendors.
- Drive high-quality service delivery across the Purchase to Pay function.
Stakeholder Collaboration
- Build strong working relationships with internal functions including Procurement, IT, Finance, Commercial teams and operational sites.
- Work across organisational boundaries to provide high-quality support and maintain service excellence.

What you'll need to succeed - Proven experience managing medium-sized teams within an Accounts Payable Shared Service function or other high-volume transactional finance environment.
- Knowledge of relevant tax requirements, including DRC and CIS, within a complex organisational setting.
- Experience leading or supporting change initiatives within Accounts Payable or similar functions.
- Strong understanding of Accounts Payable regulations, controls and best practice.
- Experience with Oracle and/or Causeway systems preferred, though other finance system experience is acceptable.
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to reprioritise at short notice and meet tight deadlines.
