HGV Trailer Technician

Gleeson is proud to be partnered with a well established Transport & Warehousing business looking to further its Transport operation.

They are looking for a HGV/ Trailer Technician looking to take a key role within the operation, This is a hands-on role where your expertise will play a vital part in ensuring our trailer fleet remains safe, compliant, and roadworthy.

• Job Title: HGV Trailer Technician
• Locations: South Birmingham
• Salary : 55,000

Duties:

• Carry out scheduled and preventative maintenance on HGV trailers in line with manufacturer guidelines and company standards
• Perform thorough inspections to identify wear, damage, or potential safety issues
• Complete mechanical, structural, and bodywork repairs to minimise downtime and maintain fleet reliability
• Accurately diagnose mechanical, braking, suspension, lighting, and electrical faults
• Rectify defects efficiently to ensure trailers remain safe, roadworthy, and compliant with legal requirements
• Record all findings, repairs, and corrective actions in line with company procedures
• Prepare HGV trailers for MOT inspections, ensuring all components meet DVSA requirements
• Identify and address potential MOT failures in advance
• Maintain high compliance standards through attention to detail and adherence to legislation
• Maintain a clean, safe, and well-organised workshop van
• Ensure tools, equipment, and consumables are managed effectively and replenished as required
• Carry out daily vehicle and equipment checks to maintain safe working conditions

• • Proven experience as an HGV Trailer Technician, Mechanic, or Fitter
  • Strong technical skills with a methodical and safety-focused approach
  • Commitment to health and safety standards within a workshop environment
  • NVQ Level 3 qualification
