Company Overview

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to support the delivery of civil engineering and infrastructure projects across North London.

This opportunity sits with a well-established Tier 1 contractor operating across sectors including water, utilities, transport, and energy. The business delivers projects through long-term frameworks, standalone schemes, and reactive works, offering exposure to a diverse range of project types and environments.

This is a great opportunity to join a high-performing commercial team on a contract basis, supporting key infrastructure projects with an immediate start.

The Role

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will take responsibility for the commercial management of multiple projects across various sites in North London.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong experience in NEC contracts and the ability to operate independently within a fast-paced delivery environment. You will be responsible for overseeing cost control, subcontract management, reporting, and contract administration across the full project lifecycle.

You will work closely with delivery teams, clients, and subcontractors to ensure projects are commercially controlled and performing in line with expectations.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Management
• Preparation of accurate cost and value reports
• Monthly CVRs, forecasting, and cost control
• Cash flow management and reporting
• Applications for payment through to final account settlement
• Identification and management of commercial risks and opportunities

Contracts & Procurement
• Administration of NEC and/or IChemE contracts
• Subcontract procurement, negotiation, and management
• Managing subcontract accounts and payments
• Handling variations, change management, and claims
• Ensuring contract compliance across supply chain

Stakeholder Management
• Acting as a key commercial interface with clients and stakeholders
• Liaising with project teams to align commercial and operational performance
• Supporting site teams with forecasting and cost management
• Building and maintaining strong supply chain relationships

Processes & Controls
• Ensuring compliance with internal commercial procedures
• Maintaining accurate reporting in line with deadlines
• Supporting continuous improvement across commercial processes

Key Requirements

Essential
• Strong experience operating at Senior Quantity Surveyor level (typically 5+ years)
• Proven background in civil engineering, utilities, or infrastructure projects
• Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts (experience with IChemE beneficial)
• Experience managing subcontractors and commercial processes
• Strong experience in forecasting, CVRs, and cost reporting
• Ability to work independently across multiple sites
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills

Desirable
• Degree/HNC/HND in Quantity Surveying or similar
• CSCS Card
• Experience within water or utilities frameworks
• Experience within a self-delivery environment
