This is a rewarding opportunity to provide targeted, personalised support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), helping them access learning, regulate emotions, and thrive in a structured environment.

About the Role

As a 1:1 ASC Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Deliver individualised support strategies tailored to the pupil s EHCP
  • Implement evidence-based interventions (e.g., visual timetables, sensory regulation, structured routines)
  • Foster emotional regulation, communication skills, and social development
  • Work collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team including the SENCO and external professionals
  • Create a safe, predictable, and nurturing learning environment
  • Promote independence, engagement, and positive behaviour for learning

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced or highly passionate about supporting pupils with ASC / autism
  • Skilled in behaviour management, de-escalation techniques, and trauma-informed practice
  • Patient, empathetic, and emotionally intelligent
  • Confident in using structured approaches such as TEACCH, PECS, or sensory strategies (desirable)
  • A proactive problem-solver with a flexible, solution-focused mindset
  • An excellent communicator and team player
  • Committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and pupil-centred practice
