Housing Support Officer

Housing Support Officer who has proven experience in front line work with victims of domestic abuse or vulnerable clients, with excellent communication and organisational skills is required to join our team at A2Dominion, based in Oxford, Oxfordshire.

SALARY: £25,148 - £30,443 per annum + Generous Benefits (see below)      

LOCATION: Oxford, Oxfordshire – with travel required across various projects in Oxfordshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent

WORKING HOURS: 35 Hours per Week, Monday to Friday

PLEASE NOTE: You must have a Full Driving Licence and your own vehicle (when using for business travel, mileage will be reimbursed at 45p per mile)

We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a Housing Support Officer who has proven experience in front line work with victims of domestic abuse or vulnerable clients, with excellent communication and organisational skills.

Working as the Housing Support Officer you will support young people in building independence and managing risks while ensuring a safe and well-maintained living environment.

As a Housing Support Officer your responsibilities will include assessing new tenants, providing tenancy support, conducting health and safety checks, and working with partner agencies.

DUTIES

Your duties as a Housing Support Officer will include:

• Take referrals and carry out needs assessments of prospective clients, liaising with police, health professionals, other agencies and colleagues as appropriate. This can be whilst working on the helpline or working within refuge or places of safety provision
• Ensure that prospective and current clients are fully aware of the support available, their financial obligations, rights and responsibilities under their tenancy/occupation arrangements and all related procedures
• Deliver high quality support to clients living in supported accommodation and for up to 1 months after move on (where required by the service), enabling them to sustain their tenancy and promoting independence, freedom and choice
• Working jointly and cohesively with housing management teams to give the best possible service to those that are being supported
• Help clients in facilitating move-on to suitable accommodation
• Support clients via the access and helpline
• Agree and review client Independent Living Plans and Risk Assessments on a regular basis and deliver contracted hours of support achieving the required outcomes
• Deliver the support identified in an Independent Living Plan through regular personal contact as appropriate, taking follow up action as required
• Design and deliver structured support to groups as appropriate to the service specification and/or local need
• Liaise with partner agencies and other key stakeholders as appropriate to ensure that good communication and co-operation is maintained
• Report any concerns relating to safeguarding of vulnerable people using the correct procedures, attending case conferences such as MARAC, MATAC and other meetings as required
• Ensure that all relevant documentation and records are completed and submitted in an accurate and timely manner
• Support the Group’s Domestic Abuse Housing Alliance (DAHA) accreditation process
• Be an ambassador for domestic abuse services, promoting the ADAS service internally as well as to external partners
• Handle complaints and representations in accordance with company policy and undertake any necessary investigations

IDEAL CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

• Educated to A-Level or equivalent
• Proven experience in front line work with victims of domestic abuse or vulnerable clients
• Driving and access to a vehicle is essential for this role
• Excellent customer service skills
• Able to establish, develop and maintain effective working relationships with all work colleagues
• Ensure compliance with the Group’s health and safety policy
